My Diary
1st January, 2025
I woke up on a Saturday morning with sunlight streaming straight onto my face. As usual, I reached out my hands to the bedside table searching for my phone to find that it wasn't at its usual spot. "Did I left it on the desk?" the first thought that came to my mind unconsciously when I wasn't able to find my phone. I proceeded to get up from my warm bed just to find that it wasn't on the desk as well. Alongside my phone, my tablet, laptop, and my smartwatch could not be found as well.
"What the heck..." I said while I began searching for those lost gadgets around the room but failed. "Mom!"
I ran downstairs to look for my parents just to find that our TV wasn't at its usual spot—it was gone!
"Mom! Dad!" I turned to my parents while asking, with a panic voice. "Where's my phone, my tablet, my laptop, watch...and the TV?"
"I have no idea, sweetheart." my mum answered. "It was gone when we woke up. I think everyone in the neighbourhood had their devices missing as well."
"This is super weird." I said as I ran out to the front yard, reaching my head over the fence between Aunt Jenny's house, our neighbour. "Aunt Jenny! Aunt Jenny!" I shouted. "I want to ask you something!"
Aunt Jenny heard my voice and came out. "Yes sweetheart?" she replied
"Is your TV gone too? And your phone? And your computer?" I asked in a panic manner.
"Calm down darling," Aunt Jenny said calmly. "and yes those tech products in my home was also gone. I heard from the other neighbours that theirs's was also gone."
"Really?!" I answered, feeling extremely surprised. "Thanks Aunt Jenny, I've got to go now." I ran to the streets to see that everyone was agitated by their phones missing, filled with voices complaining about how they would survive without technologies. I'm afraid that they might start a riot or something.
Is this some sort of a social experiment?
1st February, 2025
It's been a week where there was no technologies. I think everyone's starting to get used to it. At first it was really troublesome just to do the most normal tasks, but I think I slowly got the hang to it. I realized that there were a lot of things that I couldn't do anymore like texting my friends, search for things online, and of course—watching my favourite videos online.😔 That's probably why I started this diary I was writing daily.
Being someone who's highly dependent on technologies, it was truly a nightmare. I was still not used to doing homework without using internet to search things up. Everything became slow.
I also realized that my parents became more talkative than before. Not sure whether is it because they are bored or they just have so many things to talk about. That's good I guess. At least the house isn't so quiet like it was before.
1st March, 2025
It had been a month without technology already, and I think I've gotten the gist of this 'No Technology Society'. Everyone in the neighbourhood became a lot more chatty. Aunt Jenny even said that it resembles their lives in the 80's where technology is still not as advanced. But I think it was beyond that. They still had their TVs in the 80's, but we had nothing now. Anyways, Aunt Jenny and I had a long talk on that day. Honestly, it was pretty fun.
It was so much different from what I had expected. I genuinely thought that everyone would go psychotic without technology. Okay, maybe a little dramatic but I mean, it makes sense as well.
But thinking at the bright side, at least I get to spend time alone and also to bond with friends and family, without cellphones of course. It was awkward at first not gonna lie. It feels like we've got nothing to catch up about. Thinking about this reminds me of the previous days where we would just sit around the table with our phones. We didn't even talk! Haha.
Although there were still time were I wished I had technologies but I think I'm liking the way our lifestyle had changed now. 😄
26th May, 2025
For the past week, I saw quite a lot of people with their cellphones walking around the streets. This was weird. I thought we had no more technologies now.
There was this guy I remember. I went to ask him about why he had a cellphone, but he suddenly pulled me into a random store and was saying "The sound! Cover your ears! That sound! It will—" right into my face. He was extremely nervous. But while he was saying that he suddenly glitched right in front of my eye and disappeared. What the heck?
30th June, 2025 (8:00pm)
What that guy said definitely scared me. I've not had a good sleep ever since he said that. I really can't stand this 'no sleeping' thing anymore, I'm going to sleep. It would be a short diary entry today. Goodbye. Good night.

After closing the diary, I went to my bed and fell asleep almost right away. While I was sleeping, I heard a robotic female voice that was broadcasted all across the neighbourhood.
"Attention. Experiment 2.0 has been completed. Erasing data. Erasing data. Erasing data."
I woke up at an instant and ran to my diary and scribbling: "If you saw this diary, —"
It was too late after all. All I see was nothing but emptiness. Until...the robotic female voice was heard again.
"Attention. Downloading data. Experiment 3.0 starting...Now. 3...2...1..."
1st July, 2025
I woke up on a Saturday morning with sunlight streaming straight onto my face. As usual, I reached out my hands to the bedside table searching for my phone to find that it wasn't at its usual spot. "Did I left it on the desk?" the first thought that came to my mind unconsciously when I wasn't able to find my phone. I proceeded to get up from my warm bed just to find that it wasn't on the desk as well. Alongside my phone, my tablet, laptop, and my smartwatch could not be found as well.
There were only stationaries I usually use and a diary book. That's weird...I've never written a diary before.
"Mom!"
~End~
